Vernon Mount Park

29/6/2015

Grange-Frankfield Partnership's Tony Foy and Ger Lehane hosted a visit by a party of eminent researchers from the U.S.A. to view the exterior of Vernon Mount House. The party included Luke Pecoraro,Assistant Director for Archaeological Research, George Washington's Mount Vernon, Virginia, and Carter Hudgins, Director of Historic Preservation, Clemson University, Charleston, South Carolina, along with Eric Klingelhofer, Professor of History at Mercer University, Atlanta, Georgia.

They expressed regret that access to the interior was not possible, and added their opinion that "urgent and immediate intervention by the local government authority is imperative, to prevent further decline, and ultimate demolition by neglect, of an iconic, historical, cultural and architectural gem."
